We, as a family with 2 (and in later trips 3) children, traveled to the Cayman, and Turks and Caicos multiple times, and stayed at the Sands (which we loved). Now, the kids are older, and my wife and I would like to spend a week during the last two weeks of July, somewhere/anywhere, in the Caribbean, where the waters are as crystal clear as those at the 7 mile beach in TCI, a resort/hotel similar to the Sands at TCI, but this time an island where the local town is somewhat easily accessible and has to offer some more lively vibe and activities as well as nightly life that one can enjoy safely (without worrying about small crime etc). I know my inquiry lacks specifics, but budget would be flexible as long as it is not exorbitant amount of money. Also, all inclusive is not a preferred choice, however, if that is something that encompasses most of the above criteria, we are willing to look into it. We heard about Aruba, St. Lucia, and Barbados, but we are not sure. To me and my wife, most important thing is that is the resort is not too crowded, the waters are crystal clear (no rocky beach), and there is some local flare or town vibes we can enjoy.

It isn't going to be very busy on most Caribbean Islands during July so don't fret on that point, especially if you visit one of the smaller islands. Based on your criteria you might want to check out Anguilla (similar in topography to the T&C's), St. John (USVI's), Virgin Gorda (BVI's - especially if you'd like easy access to other islands in the chain for day trips)), Nevis (if you'd like to experience an "old World Caribbean culture), Bequia (in the Grenadines), Dominica (if you enjoy eco-tourism) and Grenada - all pretty much fit your wish list (despite the "lack of specifics" in your inquiry).

None of the islands you mentioned came to mind when exploring the idea but I am glad you responded because now we have something to go with. I don't know much about the Caribbean, so I appreciate all the input.

Also look into St. Barts. Beautiful beaches and clear water.

My concern overall would be the weather in July in the Caribbean, for being hot and rainy season some places. Which ever islands you are researching, do be sure to take that into account.

Thank you for your input. Not sure if there is a weather pattern for certain islands versus others...In other words, would there likely be any island(s) with less likelihood of summer rains?

Unless there is a major tropical storm or hurricane affecting the island you are visiting so called “summer rain” in July usually comes in the form of fast moving widely scattered showers lasting minutes rather than hours. It would not be unusual for it to rain in one area and be bright sunshine and dry 1/4 mile away. I lived in the Caribbean for 18 years and we rarely had a day in July when it rained enough to spoil anyone’s day, let alone an entire vacation. If it happens to rain one day during your visit you have three options: 1) Go swimming as you’ll get wet anyway, 2) Take shelter under a nearby palm tree until the rain stops or 3) Go to the nearest bar and order your favorite exotic cocktail but don’t be surprised if it stops raining before the bartender finishes mixing your drink.. Don’t worry, leave the umbrella at home and pack plenty of sunblock.

I’d lean Aruba or Barbados - both have that clear water + actual town vibe; quick tip: check if your resort is walkable to restaurants, it makes a huge difference at night.

I've been to many islands, and the most beautiful beaches I have experienced were on Curacao. The water is clear and as warm as bath water. The island is safe, and there is a lot to do for both adults and kids.

We did Aruba a few years back and loved that mix of chill beaches plus a cute town nearby - totally doable with kids and still fun at night without feeling sketchy.
