thank you faithie. passing your fab looking sites onto "the couple".

anzer, if t&c sounds too quiet (and i agree being sedated may not be condusive to good anniversary experience) i have to wonder if virgin gorda is a good island for you...
you might look at one and only club in the bahamas.

Nevis would be a good choice, again the problem of getting there. Haven't been there in a while so possibly connections have improved. I agree it is worth looking into.

The kids will be fine for 2 extra days.
Kids are resilent. On a 5 day night trip you get only 4 days of vacation if all goes smoothly. Not really enough time to relax and take advantage of wherever you go.
Go the second week of Nov. and hurricane seasdon behinh you 99.9% sure.Rates in Jan. are 1/3rd higher than Nov. -mid-Dec. But if you want to get away from kids, I would suggest you consider Peter Island-7 nights, Parrot Caye in T&C-7 nights , or Biras Creek-6 nighrs. Caneel on St. John can be done for 6 nights and stay in Cottage #7 but only in Rooms C. D. E. or F. NOT A or B. Another location on the property that is lovely is Hawks Nest. "Request second floor end unit". It is not guaranteed. Cottage #7 is the most expensive but if you go for 5 or 6 nights make the best of it. But Caneel can have kids at any time even first week of Nov. but a lot less. Also food is improving but not equal to Biras Creek, Peter Island or Parrot Caye. But all 4 will take 12 hours (Caneel maybe 10-11 hours) from time you leave your home until you arrive at resort. About the same timing on your return. Four Seasons Nevis is 11-12 hours but no snorkeling to speak of as in other places though property is lovely.
Anguilla resorts have lovely beaches but only fair snorkeling and transfers can foul you up.Go for 7 nights the kids will be fine.

OK - we've ditched the 5 night restriction and have it narrowed down to Little Dix Bay, VG; Ladera, St. Lucia; Petit St. Vincent; and Kamalame Cay, Bahamas. Anyone been to all, most or some of these care to comment? I'd really appreciate any and all insights.

The management at PSV is often unpleasant i.e. Hazes Richardson based on 2 visits. I would think of those you narrowed it down to Little Dix Bay is a clear winner for snorkeling, quite good food, getting taken to private beaches for 1-3 hours and access to a 1 day sail to Anegada for some excellent snorkeilg besides the 5-6 places around Little Dix. Just make sure it is early Nov. (few children and really out of hurricane season) and take a Premium room if budget allows. The only thing is it is not as secluded as some of the others but you cannot have everything, though I want it as well when I travel. I have been to LDB 4 times in 12-13 years and really enjoyed it. Go for 7-8 nights if possible. For 8 nights that gives you 6 full days of FUN. ENJOY!!

I would recommend Barbados. There are lots of really nice romantic hotels on the west coast for that special anniversay. There are direct flights to Barbados from NY, Miami, Atlanta, and Philadelphia on various airlines.

Hey, I'm from Pittsburgh area too. We just booked 5 nights at the Jade Mountain suites (Anse Chastanet) leaving Thanksgiving Day. The travel days will be grueling and we are upset about not being able to use FF miles. But my husband saw the photos of the private infinity pool suits and I love the idea of jungle biking. Vincygirl - let me know how your trip goes.

Hi Justatrigeek, my itinerary reads as follows PIT/MIA/SJU 11/16 overnight in San Juan then onto St Lucia to connect for my flight into St. Vincent where I will spend the weekend visiting friends. Sunday afternoon I head back to St. Lucia to board S/V Yankee Clipper for a week of sailing in the Grenadines. We will spend Sat post cruise in St. Lucia at the CoCo Palm, then heading home early Sun. We land in Pittsburgh at 9:55pm Sunday evening. Monday I'll reacclimate to the cold and back to work on Tuesday.
Enjoy your trip to SLU.
BTW what part of Pgh are you from?

Anzer1, I've been to T&C and VG both. If you feel that T&C is too remote, VG is even more so. Very quiet/quaint island. We loved it but may not be for you. Little Dix would fit your other priorities but also is a "family" style resort that welcomes little ones.
