Two Islands - Nevis and ??

It's been a few years since I've posted, but now have a question. So, we are planning on returning to Nevis in November. This will be our fifth trip there and the only island we to which we ever return. We are exploring the thought of visiting two islands, one of course being Nevis and the other an island we haven't visited. We have been to the Bahamas (Out Islands), Tortola, Virgin Gorda, St. Thomas, St. John, Jamaica, Anguilla, St. Martin, Grenada, Puerto Rico.

And for point of reference we are more of the Montpelier/Nisbet people than Four Seasons. And not AI people either. We usually rent a car and visit local restaurants/shops/etc. We will be in the islands between two and three weeks (coming from the west coast, we like to spend as much time there as possible!).

So, any ideas of "easy" island hops (there may not be such a thing)? And maybe a hint of where to stay?

And this may be a tough question, but I thought I'd come to the experts!

You can easily take a water taxi (less than 10 minutes) or public ferry (about 45 minutes) from Nevis to St. Kitts.

You’ll have to fly to reach any other island and there are only a small number of flights to a few other islands and the “list” of islands changes frequently because demand is low and the local commuter airlines discontinue service frequently. At present most flights into Nevis are private charters and privately owned aircraft. If you are willing to do a private charter you’ll have a lot of choices.

Right now Air Sunshine has flights a few days a week to St. Croix. Coastal Air flies to St. Croix and Dominica and I believe Windsor still flies to St. Martin. Trans Anguilla Airways used to have flights from Nevis to Anguilla and Air Sunshine had flights to Tortola but they’ve been suspended for now but may be reinstated next Fall (you’ll have to check directly with the airline to find out if or when this may happen.

If you don’t want to stay on St. Kitts but are willing to travel there from Nevis to catch a flight your options increase considerably since that island is serviced by Winair, LIAT, Trans Anguilla, Seaborne and several other local commuter airlines. You can pretty much get to any of the Leeward and Windward Islands.

Just so you know, island hopping from Nevis is not always easy (you have to be very flexible and often willing to wait until the last minute to learn flight schedules) or inexpensive so be prepared for sticker shock and to do a lot of first hand checking with airlines as the number of available airlines flying into Nevis changes very often - some have been known to start up and cancel service in the same month.

Good luck with your search.

Sorry, there is a typo in paragraph 3 - the word “Windsor” should be Winair.

I knew I could count on you! I will look into St. Croix. I've been to St. Thomas and St. John, so maybe we just fill the trifecta.

We did a jump from Anguilla to Nevis a few years was not the easiest thing to do, which is why I'm exploring this option early and carefully. And we did a private charter in the Bahamas because that is almost the only way to hop islands there.

Thanks again,
