Turks & Caicos - Quick! Need beach wedding advice

Hello - Some of you who frequent the Lounge may know my DD2 is getting married August 6th. DD1, who is 5 months pregnant and also the Maid of Honor has some major complications and may need to have the baby out of town. She most likely will not be able to be at the wedding we had planned in our home town.

Everything is still very much up in the air, but DD2 has stated she will not postpone the wedding. Instead, she will just go to their honeymoon destination (T & C) and get married in a private ceremony on the beach. They have already rented a villa for their honeymoon, but now are considering cancelling their wedding here, going a couple days earlier to T & C and having a simple private beach ceremony. She wants the money we have saved for her wedding to go towards the baby's medical bills. I could just burst with love right now for both my daughters.

Does anyone know of a nice beach hotel we could check into for a couple nights that allows weddings? Any ministers that do this? Also - is there anything special they would need to do for their marriage certificate in T & C? I am thinking it would just be 3 couples - the bride and groom, me and DH, and future SIL's parents.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hey BB,

You raised a good kid.

It would be far simpler if the bride and groom went to the local courthouse for a private marriage and then threw a wedding celebration in the T&C.

The paperwork can be a major headache.

I was going to suggest what Ira has already said. It seems the logical thing to do would be to have a civil ceremony at home, and then find someone for a lovely symbolic blessing on the beach. And yes, you have wonderful daughters.

Must be on island at least 3 nights before

Paperwork can take forever--months. My sister married in TCI and took 7 months to get certificates

Check Royal West Indies, they have marriage packages where everything is included, and are used to handling things

A couple of other resorts might have wedding packages too--

But if DYI doing it herself, it will be hugely expensive, and I don't recommend it unless she goes down before to plan everything, or at least get a wedding planner.

OK - thanks so much for the excellent advice everyone! This is why I love Fodors!

I will check out the Royal West Indies, balmona. I haven't been to T & C since 2005 and I know it has grown so much since then. They have airline reservations for Sunday August 7th already and thought it may be easier just to change them to August 5th and get married on their intended day, then check into their villa as planned on August 7th.

They are staying at the same villa we took our girls to in 2005. DD2 wanted that. This will be future SIL's first trip on an airplane. He is in the process of getting his passport now.

It would be nice if they got officially married at home so there would be at least some family with them to celebrate.
