We just returned from Tortola last night and loved the Lighthouse Villas. We stayed in one of the penthouse units and the view is unbelievable. It may be 75 ft. from the beach - essentially you walk down the driveway, across the road and you're standing on the beach at Cane Garden Bay. There are 5 or 6 restaurant/bars on the beach. They happen to be on the other side of a dock from the beach where the Lighthouse has beach chairs for their guests - so it feels a bit removed. We found this to be an ideal location.

Kara's suggestion is a good one.

Basically, therre are only two beaches that meet your criteria. Apple Bay (close to Bomba's Shack and Ceta's) and Cane Garden Bay (with a handful of great beach bars including Quito's Gazebo).

At CGB you have Lighthouse as well as CGB Beach House (http://diveguide.com/tortola) and Indigo House (http://www/indigohouse.org) that wil give you instant beach access but a bit of privacy somewhat away from the bars.

Apple Bay has several villas that fit. Check the villas at Purple Pineapple (www.purplepineapple.com) and www.virginbeer.com for starters.

Dave

I stayed at Elm Beach Suites two summers ago. AT $85 a night it was no 5 star hotel, but was very clean, had ac,microwave mini-frig ,great view, and I could throw a football from there into the ocean. You won't believe the guy who owns this (Elvet Meyers),he is a sailor who was in the Olympics in 1984 ,and he has more stories that you just wouldn't believe .You can walk to a half dozen restautants/bars from here, and wear shorts and no shoes. Check out their website. If you go there ask him about Jimmy Buffet.
