Things to do
I am going to Turks and Caicos Club at the end on October with my wife. I am interested in para-sailing, horseback riding, snorkeling, snuba, and possibly a boat trip while we are there. Can anyone reccomend any businesses that do any of the activities that I mentioned? Are there any close islands that we might want to visit while we are there? Any other tips you can give me? Thanks.

faithie: You owe me an apology. GDR was asking about "Snuba" not "Scuba". "Snuba" and "Scuba" are not the same thing. "Snuba" is similar to snorkeling. You wear fins, mask but instead of a snorkel you are connected to the surface by a breathing line. It allows you to stay under the water for extended periods without surfacing. Typically with "Snuba" you stay in relatively shallow waters (usually no more than 10 to 12 feet). It differs from "Scuba" in that you don't have air tanks, bouyancy compensators, regulators, etc. "Snuba" was an up and comming activity in the Caribbean quite a number of years ago but now not many places offer it.
"Scuba", of course, is offered in the T&C and if GCR wants to do that it too can be arranged by the hotel staff.

Faithie: I did catch your LOL and wasn't really very much offended by your post. I just wanted to point out that I was not being "snipish" in my initial reply to GDR but rather trying to be helpful. Anyway, GDR got his information, you now know the difference between snuba and scuba, and I had the satisfaction of accurately answering a fellow traveler's inquiry. Everybody comes out a winner. Have a great day.

There is deffinately SNUBA in Provo - Generally operates off of the beach near Coral Gardens. For something a little different I would try something called Sea-Trek (manufactured by the same people who make SNUBA)which is a helmet dive system operating from an old rum running schooner on Grace Bay. The Sea Trek operation will pick you up at your hotel, take you to the boat, let you Sea Trek on the sea floor and then let you snorkel afterwords. I did it last year and the cost was about $65 U$D for about a 4 hour excursion and I thought it was worth it. As for horses, there is a company there called Provo Ponies - I have not tried that there but when I was there last I met a couple who had and they enjoyed the excursion. There is deffinately para sailing but I am not sure of the name(s) of the operators. Have a good time.
