The Perfect Destination

Hi All. I need some suggestions please. I am looking for a destination with lodging about a 10-15 min walk to shopping and eating. A good example would be where we staying in Oranjestad, Aruba and our lodging was at Talk of the Town. A wonderful walk 15 min walk to shopping and eating for breakfast/dinner every day.

We have been to Aruba, St. Lucia, Lucaya in Grand Bahama...each of these had a pleasant walk to downtown and/or buses.

I am looking for something similar on other islands as we like to try different places.

Thanks in advance for all recommendations. Oh and we also love snorkelling around the beach (great example is the reef off of Lucayan beach with beautiful coral and fish!)

For starters, check out resorts in the following locales:

Playa del Carmen, Mexico - there are at least a dozen that are within a 5 to 15 minute walk of restaurants and shops.

Grand Case, St. Martin - plenty of nice boutique hotels within walking distance of good shopping and some of the best restaurants on the island.

Frigate Bay area of St. Kitts - several resorts and condo complexes with more than a dozen restaurants and beach bars and shopping all within a few minutes walk.

Cruz Bay on St. John - nice shopping and good selection of restaurants nearby.

Thank you. Have been to Playa and yes that is what we are looking for. We have just returned from St Martin/St Maarten so do not want to return so soon. Looking for new vistas. St John is looking like a good possibility and will do more research on that.

Does it have include a beach? If not, OId San Juan might be a good choice.

7MB on Grand Cayman, if you stay near the Marriott end of the beach, you can walk into Georgetown. You can also walk to Camana Bay where there are lots of shops and restaurants in a purpose built development. Snorkelling of course is very good on GCM.

Grace Bay Turks & Caicos - has a few & restaurants shops at Salt Mills Plaza and lots of restaurants in the hotels that line the beach.

Trois Ilets in Martinique.
