teens - which islands
looking for island for family spring break with one or two 16 year old girls; sophisticated travelers; did Anguilla last year - LOVED IT (don't go all-inclusive bec. there are great, but expensive restaurants; rent a car; we stayed at Sonesta - very nice, good value and cheaper than the bigger names!) Want something similar with more teens & little more nightlife but SAFE; not interested in gambling and the cruise ship hordes; like sun, beach, snorkeling, good food & music. Thanks for your help!

One of the safest islands is Aruba. Beautiful beaches and activities with some of the finest dining. Go to www.travelunlimited.com for sample of prices.

Would have to second the recommendation from Lisa for Aruba. VERY safe and GREAT dining. It has become one of our favorite Caribbean destinations. Also, it is located outside the hurricane belt so you don't have too worry about the weather whenever you go.

Sorry, but having trouble posting. <BR>The only thing Aruba and Anguilla have in common is that they both start with an "A." If you loved Anguilla and its pristine undeveloped landscape and wonderful beaches, Aruba might not be the best choice for you. You might want to explore some of the less developed BVI's where you won't find the commercialism that overcrowds Aruba or maybe head to St. Barth's or the Grenadines! Nothing is taller than a palm tree on most islands and they are laid back and charming and still Carib-feeling - in fact, Anguilla reminds me of the way the BVI used to be (except it is more lush and green!). But wonderful beaches, sailing and snorkling in the BVI's! Antoher spot for the beaches and snorkling that, for the most part, has not developed yet as much as other locations is TCI. Other than the mega resort, Beaches on Provo, there are some great choices of wonderful spots (condo-resorts on Provo) that are on a great beach! Of course the best snorkling is off the reefs but that water is spectacular! And it's not Carib either but it is a good spot once the weather warms up in the Spring! Don't worry about hurricanes in the Spring - season doesn't start until June and then anything above that 6 degree line on the globe can be a target! Hard to beat those Anguilla restaurants not only in numbers but in quality - There are so many wonderful places to choose from! Not many islands can sport and support two true 5* resorts on one little island and Anguilla does it so well! Even the more moderate places there are a cut above the high rise commercial chain-hotels, casinos and activity that some people really want and enjoy on vacation! But sounds like you are trying to avoid that so you might want to explore a bit more before deciding on Aruba.
