TCI for college students?

DD2 (22) and a friend are looking to rent a studio condo at the Alexandra condo/resort the week before Memorial Day. More than likely, it will be a garden view unit. They found it on VRBO. Any thoughts, comments, experiences? She realizes this is not the Hard Rock. They are looking for sun, sand, beach, snorkeling and a low key vacation to recuperate from difficult college year.

They are on very tight budget, but if you have restaurant, nightlife, or other hotels/condo they should consider, please advise. Thanks!

No nightlife

They need to make sure there's not an age restriction for the rental.

The person paying has to be one of the guests staying. The reason I say this it seems parents are doing all the work? Strange they wouldn't ask themselves?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I love TCI, but it would not be my first pick for college students on a tight budget. It's one of the most expensive islands in the Caribbean. Grocery store prices will give them sticker shock, and there are few restaurants that are reasonably priced.

And, as Blamona said, there's no nightlife. I think they'd be better off in Jamaica or Mexico, both of which have more reasonably priced options for lodging and food, plus nightlife.

As beautiful as TCI is and what nightlife there is ends around 10pm, I cant see it as a choice for college students on a tight budget

If they are looking for low key as you say---it is perfect. The onsite restaurant at Alexandra is very good with a big menu.
