Katy, thank you for taking the time to read the other posts before doing a swim with dolphins program. If more people did that, then perhaps it would be an end to them.
There's an outfit in Bimini (Bahamas out islands) that takes people on a boat ride that 75% of the time ends up being a dolphin encounter. When the dolphins show up, the people can get in the water and swim with them. Robert, who posts here, did a lengthy report on his experience and it sounds wonderful. The dolphin sightings are noth guaranteed and they do not use any kind of food to lure them.

For seeing dolphin in the wild, hire a boatman for the 12 mile run up the coast to Pelican Bar and then on and into Black River's Great Morass for crocodile/wildlife watching, lunch at Sister Lou's shack upriver on sweet crab and lime and a swim. See www.treausrebeach.net or for pix, go to the Virtual Tour of Black River/Treasure Beach on any search engine. This is South Coast, Jamaica...

If your not committed to the Bahamas you will find swimming and diving with dolphins in their natural environment at Anthony's Key Resort in Roatan, Honduras the best.It is not fancy but it is a back-to-nature experience with A/C, will maintained abins in the premium category and pretty good food at reasonable prices except over Christmas/New Years's.We were there in June and will return next year.

Tha Anthony's Key's dolphins are captive, and so it is NOT in their "natural environment' - which would be a pod of extended family members swimming in the open ocean.
The only method of interacting with dolphins which is not incredibly cruel is to find locations where they are frequently encountered in the wild on a voluntary basis, and hope that they will show up.
