Yesterday I went to Liberty Travel and spoke with an agent about going to the Caribbean for my honeymoon. He spoke highly of Superclubs and Sandals in Jamaica and mentioned the Super Clubs Surprise vacations. You can go for a reduced rate and be promised a superclub trip and find out which one two weeks before you go. As you add restictions (like no Hedonism) the price increases slightly. <BR><BR>Any comments? Has anyone done this? Is this a good idea?<BR><BR>Thanks for your help.

If you honestly don't care which resort, I'd say go for it. When I did it, you didn't have a choice but we did get Breezes Runaway Bay. For me, it was too nerve wracking. I'd rather pay full price and pick my resort.

I agree, you could get a nice quiet resort or a resort that has a million children splashing you in the pool, running between your legs or screaming babies at dinner. Since this is such a special event would you really want to risk being unhappy? ( I am assuming that you would not want such a busy resort on your honeymoon) If I'm wrong then I would book it.<BR><BR>Congradulations and have a good time no matter what you decide to do.

No you would not get a resort with a million kids, because on Jamaica SuperClubs does not have an resorts that allow children.<BR><BR>Exclude Breezes MBJ and you will probably get Breezes Runaway Bay, or if you can afford to upgrade to the Grand Lido Suprise if they are offering it you can't go wrong.<BR><BR>Another possibility if they are offering it is Couples Secret Rendevous, a similar program

Thanks for your help thus far. I think I am going to look into the program that couples offers. Since I have never been to Jamaica before I thought how would I know the difference?? Sounds good to me.

We did the Super suprise 2 yrs ago and we loved it. We did end up at Hedonism 3. It was a beautiful resort good food and it was quite an experience. You dont have to be wild to go to this resort buthave an open mind. We will do it again for the $ of a weeks stay it was worth it.

Are you SURE you want to do this for your honeymoon?!<BR><BR>I'd like to ask that you consider St. John for your honeymoon. The beaches are gorgeous (75% national park and MUCH better than Jamaica) the properties are nice whether villa or hotel (and yes, there are villas that cater to honeymooners). You can also do day trips into the British VI (don't forget your passport) as well as great duty free shopping in St. Thomas.<BR><BR>I'm not 'knocking' Jamaica, cause we went there on our honeymoon 24 yrs ago. I just know the difference between the 2 locations, and hopefully your travel agent can give some unbiased insight as to properties on St. John.<BR><BR>Hope this helps.

Am I sure I wnat to go to Jamaica?? Well, no, it was just recommended to me. I have never been any where in the Caribbean and heard good things about it, and it was the island that the travel agent recommended. So, of course I am open to other ideas. Vavalynn--If you can provide some additional information about the type of experience you're looking for, we might be able to be more helpful. Every island in the caribbean has its own special flavor and they can be quite different from one another. Are you certain that you want to go all-inclusive? If so, Jamaica may be a very good choice for you. They have tons of all-inclusives and the properties tend to be less expensive than on other islands. If, on the other hand, you'd like to get off the resort to do some exploring on your own or to sample local restaurants, you might be happier elsewhere. Many have commented that they do not like the aggressive nature of Jamaican vendors. Jamaica also has somewhat more crime than other islands. We felt perfectly safe there, but as a warning--it is not uncommon to be offered drugs on the street.<BR><BR>St. John is not a good place to go if you're seeking an all-inclusive experience. If you like the idea of renting a villa with a jeep and exploring different beaches, hiking, etc., St. John is great. The island is breathtaking.<BR><BR>Here are some things to think about. Do you want to go all-inclusive? Do you hope to venture out on your own? How important is nightlife? How about shopping? Do you want a dry desert island or a lush green one? Do you want casinos? Would you rather visit an island with lots of high-rise hotels, or do you prefer smaller resorts that blend into the landscape? Mountainous island or flat? Do you care about good diving or snorkeling? Do you prefer highly-developed islands with lots of people, or quieter, less-developed areas with fewer tourists? How important are really good beaches? Hi Vavalynn,<BR><BR>I don't know a lot about all-inclusive options, since we normally don't travel that way, but hopefully some others can jump in and help. It sounds like Jamaica might be a pretty good choice for you. You might also think about the Mexican caribbean--i.e. Cancun, Cozumel, etc.--which tends to have great nightlife. Other islands that might fit your bill are St. Thomas and Barbados although I don't know much about all-inclusive options there. Aruba might also work for you but they do have casinos there. <BR><BR>All of these places will tend to be more crowded than spots like St. John, but unfortunately it's difficult to get an uncrowded island that still has good nightlife. I'm not sure when you're getting married, but the time of year can make a big difference as to how crowded resorts will be. Fall tends to be very slow due to hurricane season. Spring break time is probably the most busy. Good luck and congratulations!

We've done Grand Lido Lottery twice and you can't go wrong with it (all three in Jamaica). No kids anywhere and we didn't even want to leave the resort all week! Liked it so much, we're getting married at GL Sans Souci in December!

I don't think I'd do the Super Surprise for a honeymoon. SuperClubs does have the Lido Lottery another poster mentioned. In the U.S. they are calling it Lido Surprise. That would guarantee you a Lido Resort. The Couples Secret Rendezvous would get you at Couples Negril, Swept Away or Couples Ocho Rios. Swept Away doesn't have TVs (big deal w/ my husband), so if that is an issue, don't go that route.<BR><BR>Sometimes individual resorts price cheaper than these above specials, so check out several things. Whatever you do, for a honeymoon try to go some route you feel comfortable with. You don't need a bunch of anxiety.<BR><BR>We've done about 27 or 28 resort stays in Jamaica and never felt unsafe.
