STT and/or STJ hotel for 1 night

We are thinking of taking a hopper flight to STT next weekend (from Vieques). If we are able to manage it, does anyone have suggestions for a hotel/inn that is not too expensive? All we want is a place to sleep, close to Charlotte Amalie and Cruz Bay in STJ. We will probably not rent a car, I just want to get my feet on the sand of my favorite spot on earth!
Thanks
p.s. no, I have not researched it yet, I thought someone may have a quick tip.

Best Western Emerald Beach is right near the airport and has a lovely beach and perfectly fine rooms - if you want to maximize your sand time, this would be the spot. You can take a cab into CA for dinner. I know of some other less expensive nice places to stay in CA, but they're not right on the beach.

the beach is not a necessity as we will spend most of our time on STJ. So your other ideas are welcomed! Thanks.

I am also looking into the ferry that goes to PR from STT, if anyone knows about it.

Hey, soggydollar (one of my favorite places on earth!) -

The Crystal Palace Hotel is a lovely old home high up in CA - very reasonable rates, great host, wonderful balcony overlooking the city and the harbour, awesome overnight spot. Bunker Hill Hotel is also very reasonable, centrally located and nice accommodations. I believe both places can provide transportation from the airport..

My vote goes to Emerald Beach also & for another reason. You're even closer to Frenchtown where most of the best restaurants on the island are.

You're also close to Charlotte Amalie & could take the ferry to St. John from downtown rather than Red Hook.
