Sting is performing in Tobago
I just found out he's the headliner at the Tobago Jazz Festival in April 2006.
We already have a trip booked for April!!! Waaaaaahhhhhhhh!
We saw him a few years ago in NJ. He was fantastic. Anyway, maybe this will interest someone else.

I'm completely jealous! I love Sting so much (my husband makes fun of me because I listen to his cd's all the time and he says I'm too young to be such a big Sting fan).
What a great surprise for the trip.
Supposedly Bono and the Rolling Stones are going to be performing at Jazz Fest in New Orleans this year.

Oh no, you have NOTHING to be jealous of (I must admit... sadly
I think you misunderstood me. The "waaahhhh" is a pitiful cry not a "yeah". We're going to Grand Cayman in April, not Tobago.
Anyway, I've been keeping an eye out on music festivals in the Caribbean. My husband and I want to try that for just a "us - no child" trip. We're seriously considering Dominica this October. They have their annual world creole music festival at that time. One of my very favorite bands "Kassav" performs there every year. We'll see.

Yes I misunderstood you. I thought you meant that you had already planned on going to Tobago, and then found out after the fact about Sting's performance.
I'm sorry... that would be great to see Sting in the Caribbean. A lot of his recent music would lend itself to that setting, too.

Mah1980: Scoot over. I'm coming to sit right next to you on the jealous bus and we can both give the envious eye to Diana as she enjoys Sting and not us!
Diana: I'm sure you found it already but just in case www.tobagojazzfest.com
If you do go, please enjoy for both Mah1980 and me!

huh? why didn't you tell me he was at Tobago before I booked the stupid trip to Martinique? Actually, not to brag but more to reveal my good fortune, I was lucky enough to see him (Gordon/Sting)and K.D Lang in July 2000 (Brand New Day Tour) at Red Rocks. KD spent much of the night singing no more than 5 feet away. I could have literally reached out and touched her. I'm pretty certain she wouldn't have appreciated that tho...haha

Anybody know where he's going to perform? I can't think of anyplace there big enough to hold the crowds. There's a small sports stadium, about the size of a U.S. high school stadium, but I would think that would be overwhelmed with locals and people from Trinidad.

hahahaha...Bette Midler...what a visual...Anyway, Sting is performing April 23, I won't be in the Caribbean any more...waaaahhh! I wonder if attending an event like that or a Carnival would defeat the notion of a "relaxing vacation", tho? Guess it depends on what you want out of your trip.
