St. Croix escaped Hurricane Irma but was then clipped by cat 5 Hurricane Maria on its way to Puerto Rico. The island was pretty badly damaged, but as you noted, the Buccaneer fared relatively well and plans to accept guests in November. Right now they are housing much needed relief workers. I believe most of the island is still without power, but seems like Buccaneer has their own generator.

Thanks, Jimmie. We loved the family-owned Buccaneer.

St Thomas is slowly coming back. Many hotels are closed for at least this season, possibly a year. However, cruise ships have returned. There are shops, restaurants, and beaches available. Yes, many people do not have power yet, but there are pockets of relative normalcy. The trees are leafing out and flowers are blooming, thanks to the deluge of water provided by Maria.
