It has been a while since I went to the carnival, 2000, but the children and the adult parades are not to be missed. Also the bands on Thursday night starting around midnight until 4am. The adult parade last for about eight hours.

Thanks tch. I know I want to see the steelband competition, and the parades for sure.
I was looking at the schedule, and so many things look like they would be a lot of fun. I want to try to see as much as I can but still have some beach time too. It seems like there is something every single night that lasts into the wee hours.
Party at night and beach during the day seems like a good plan!

we went last year on the day of the adult parade. the vieques/fajardo ferry turned into the vieques/carnival boat for the day. vieques sent their calypso band and kids from the school marching, etc.
it was so much fun. there is so much to see just watching the parade!!
little food stands around, great people watching.
they close all the stores on the main street during the parade.
we were only there for the day, but looking forward to going back!

Oh wow, Soggydollar! That sounds super. A day to remember for sure.
We may try to get to Vieques and St Croix while we are on STT. We have been to almost all of the US/BVI's but have never really "seen" STT.
I like having so many day trip possibilities from that area. Maybe we'll make it to "your place."

i wish there were more ferry options to island hop from vieques. anything you want to do as far as getting somewhere when vieques is involved, you need to fly and those hoppers are $250 rt and that can add up fast!
whatever you decide, have a great time. we have a neat little island here!(just not for the travelers who like a destination that is bustling, busy, drinks served on the beach,, etc)
