St. Thomas, Bahamas, Bermuda,

Please help!

My wife and I are looking at a last miute weekend (3 maybe 4 nights) getaway and are not sure where to go.

We would be traveling from the midwest.
We would like a place with a GREAT beach, nice hotel and good snorekling. A good hotel with ez walking to good food is a plus. A clean hotel with good snorkeling and a quiet atmosphere would be great.

Last year we went to Grand Cayman and loved it.

Bermuda is still kinda cold right now for snorkling...and the snorkling is fairly average unless you take a charter out to one of the Northern reefs.

If you can find a good airfare, fly to Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas and stay on St. John. Snorkling there is the best!

You might look at one of the outislands in the Bahamas, Abaco, Eleuthera, Cat Island, Harbour Island.

On Harbour Island, take a look at Romora Bay (www.romorabay.c0m) or on Eleuthera Cocodimama (www.cocodimama.com). Both resorts are upscale and have excellent restaurants on site.

Romora is on the Harbour side of the island and they have a dive operation onsite for snorkle trips and or diving.

Cocodimama is RIGHT on the beach and if you walk a bit you will have the beach all to yourselves. There is some snorkling right off the beach there.

Both are on the small side, intimate and quaint.

Have a great time.

Best snorkeling is St. John, Turks and Caicos or any of the Bahama out islands. Go with whatever is easiest to get to and you can't go wrong. Happy travels.

If you can wait till later in May, go to Bermuda. It is the nicest island you have mentioned. As the above Traveler863 mentioned St. John is a short ferry from St.Thomas would be a great destination for snorkeling. I did not care too much for the Bahamas. Maybe the out islands are nicer. It would also take longer to get to them.

I agree. If you can wait until May, go to Bermuda. It's a world apart from the islands in the Carribbean. The winding streets lead you upward, the shops and resturants are wonderful. The beaches are great and they will take you snorkeling in the Bermuda Triangle. Many good hotels with ocean view terraces and it's romantic!
