St. Lucia Beach Question

Reading lots about rough water on the beach in St. Lucia and my question is to anyone who has stayed at the Hyatt on pigeon island which is now a Sandals Grande St. Lucian. We're told this resort is on the sea and on the bay so is there a nice beach with calm water for swimming at this hotel? I like to swim without waves in clear water but hear this resort is new and beautiful. Also, how is the casino? Please advise!

Hi Lexi:

My husband and I styed at the Hyatt for part of our honeymoon last year. IT is a wonderful resort. It is on the penesula with the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other side. Teh beach on the Caribbean is a nice white sand beach (imported sand) the waters were very calm when we were there and we did lots of swimming. You can walk over to Pegion Is. and there is another nice beach there too.

I have pictures of the Hyatt and full trip report available at www.seashelltravel.com

Let me know if you have any questions after reading the report and looking at the pictures.

PS

The casino was not open yet when we were there. But the lobby is stunning!

Thanks Kay- I saw your site and appreciate the pix! The Hyatt will now be a Sandals so I'm sure the service will be great and we like the AI aspect. Are there a lot of good restaurants nearby that we should try though?? Thanks!

We visited St.Lucia in January and from what we were told the Hyatt was not open due to low occupancy. We stayed at the Rex St. Lucian and it was great.

Hi Lexi:

Glad youn liked the pictures. Did you read the trip report?

We had dinner at the Hyatt one night and at the Captains';s quarters on Pigeon Is. one night. We went ot a ;nice restaurant on the marina I think it was called the Chart house one night for dinner. I heard the snooty aguti and Green Parrot up on MOre Fortune were really good but we ran out of time.

There are lots of reatuarnts over in Rodney Bay and in Castries itself.

The Hyatt will reopen as Sandals in early July.

If you go before that I would recommend Ladera (WOW), Hilton or Windjammer Landing.
