St John USVI cottage
Has anyone ever stayed at a small cottage near Coral bay called Bambooshay? Used to be called Coconut cottage I think.
Anyone have any cottage suggestions..........under $1500/week? Private setting...self-contained, stand-alone around or near Coral Bay?
Thanks

I can recommend two in the Coral Bay area:
First is Creolla on Ajax Peak. Two bedroom with a great deck and gazebo overlooking Coral Bay. Very easy access road and convenient to the North Shore beaches since the road is just past the smoothie stand.Very private setting.

The second, Coconut Hill cottage, we have not stayed at but took a tour by the owners between guests. It has a small pool and what I consider better views since looks towards the BVIs. Large master bedroom and a smaller second bedroom. There is a sleeping loft above the living/kitchen area. This cottage is much better than shown on the web site.

I would like to suggest Palm Cottage in Coral Bay. It is a beautiful, new cottage with a spectacular view of the harbor. It is self-contained, stand alone and has everything you would want from outdoor shower, to a bbq grill, beach chairs, coolers, and on and on.
We have stayed there twice; most recently last month. We were there for 12 days.

I have some pictures, that I have been meaning to post, so will do that and link here.
I read through the guest book and all of the comments have been so positive on all aspects of their stay.
For the record - While I have no financial interest in the property, the owner's are personal friends. Barry & Diane are gracious hosts and great people.
If I can answer any questions, post here or email me.

Greetings, Gecko.
You can't go wrong with Coconut HILL Cottage. I just checked for the VRBO number--as listed above, it is #115186 and the owners are offering a "name your price" recession discount for any reasonable offer, which is a neat idea.
In the Caribbean, this is a "cottage" but it is quite large, yet cosy.
The views are STUPENDOUS--right up there with the best anywhere in the entire world. The owners are lovely. They live in a small place on the property, but in the jungle, well below the cottage. You don't see them or their little house, or hear them, unless you want to--in which case they are quite glad to answer questions if you seek advice.
The road up to it, which was dirt when i was there, is now totally paved--still a steep drive, but not bumpy or hard to get to. I hope the painting of the lizard is still on the shack nearby--it's a"where you turn" landmark and you'll know it's not Kansas anymore!

I recommend Luna Vista, which is about 2.5 miles from Coral Bay on Bordeaux Mountain. The views are great, it's relatively inexpensive, the owners are great, and the drive is right off of Centerline Rd. We stayed there in March and loved it. You can find it at http://www.vrbo.com/87692 or http://www.mylunavista.com
