Check out the map available from the National Park Service. It's a large, waterproof map ($20?) that identifies every beach and snorkling area on the island and even describes which spots are walk-out sandy beaches vs. those that require a short walk and wading out over a rocky bottom. We hit every snorkling area listed last summer and found the information to be dead on. Good luck!

Hi Christie, There are many great snorkling spots that are beach accessible on STJ. Some of my favorites are Leinster Bay / Waterlemon Cay, Salt Pond Bay, Little Lamesur Bay as well as most off the North Shore Road, Cinnamon Bay, Little Cinnamon, Hawksnest & the tourist popular Trunk Bay.

You might want to pick up a copy of the book "Feet, Fins & Four Wheel Drive" by Pam Gaffin. IMO it's the best guide book of the island and includes detailed descriptions of the snorkling at STJ's 39 beaches.

Have a great trip! Trish

Christie

As the previous posters have stated, St. John has an amazing number of beach accessible snorkel spots. The locations are not even far from where you'll park.
