St. Croix Golfing

Trying to get some info on golfing in St. Croix. Course names and locations, green fees, club rental. Any recommendations welcome.

This may be vague info, but I think there are only two courses on St Croix. The Carambola has one, which is supposed to be very nice, and is located off-site, but the hotel provides a shuttle. Carambola is located north shore, west of C'sted. The other one may be associated with the Buccaneer resort, but not sure, located north shore, east of C'sted. Check their web sites. Try also USVI-on-line.com, wheretostay.com, this site, and even your public library for for location-specific info.

Actually there are 3 courses, but the one at the Reef is a 9-hole. Carambola is by far the best, a Rob. Trent Jones course. Club rental about $12.00. Late afternoon tee times cheaper than earlier. Pro can set you up. Buccaneer isn't bad, deal for their guests in price. Let me know if you need ideas on where to stay

Dave, thanks for the offer of advice on a place to stay. We already are booked at the Carambola. Any recommendations on a car rental agency?

The reef course is just your basic beginners course wide open. Carambola is the Robert Trent Jones up in a valley quite a bit above the Carambola Resort grounds. We had quite a trip finding it. It is a great course, very well landscaped with beautiful set up par 3's with lots of water between the tee and greens. I fortunately played about my best par 3 golf on the day I was at the course. The Buccaneer is definitely worth the trip to play. It has a some incredible seaside vistas including a par 3 (i think) green that sits on top of a cliff overlooking the sea. A simply breathtaking view. You definitely want to play both courses. When are you going. We went last May and it was teriffic being off season. I called both courses and asked about getting out for a solo round and they just said come whenever you want theres no one here at this time of year. So I just showed up paid the greens fee and headed to the first tee. It was incredible.
