From my December visit, we had three fantastic dinners at the Francois Plantation (high-end, fancy, special) and two excellent dinners at Route de Bucaneer in Gustavia (more casual, right on the water). At Eden's Roc, we loved the tapas bar.

There are other classic St. Bart's places like Maya's (in Public) and La Languoste (on Flamands Beach) that we didn't visit this trip that we have enjoyed in the past.

It is hard to get a bad meal in St. Bart's. The food is consistently outstanding at most of the restaurants. Your friend should do fine.

These are the restaurants I would recommend based upon our visit last May:

La Mandala (great place for dinner, view over Gustavia)
Sand Bar at Eden Rock - great place for lunch, right on the beach)
Bou Bou's at Sorreno Beach Hotel - great place for lunch, right on the beach)
Restaurant at Hotel Isle de France (don't remember the name) - great place for lunch or dinner
Carl Gustaf - wonderful upscale dinner, view to die for overlooking Gustavia (if you don't eat here, you must at least go for drinks)
Do Brazil - have lunch here on Shell Beach
Le Gaic - at Hotel Le Toiny - the Sunday brunch is outstanding

Also, another great lunch we had was on Pinel,a small island off of St. Barts. We rented a yacht and went out there for the afternoon. It is a day island, no accommodations, just a restaurant and bar and lots of people enjoying the day! Great lobster!
