St. Barth vs. St. Thomas?

Trying to decide between Ritz Carlton on St. Thomas or Village St. Jean on St. Barth for December 10-17 trip. Looking for nice ocean views, not mainly beaches, like the pool. I do already have resv/flights to St. Thomas (and Ritz), if I change dest. can I easily get to St. Barth, or do I need to re-route to St. Martin?

I have heard that the Village St. Jean cottages are wonderful and the resort is great but I am not that familiar with it as I understand it is not beachfront! St. Barth's does have some of the most outstanding restaurants! However, the Ritz is the best of STT. Out on quiet East End, it is a larger facility than the Village and it is a marble palace with wonderful views of Pillsbury Sound and St. John! It's close proximity to the ferry dock in Red Hook gives easy access to St. John and the BVI's and the Ritz does several day sails that are well worth the trip (the one to Jost on their cat is great!). A smallish beach but lovely! You would most likely want to reroute your flight rather than trying to connect in STT to SXM. There are some commuter flights but I don't know that any are direct flights from STT so you might stop at Antigua on the way and, in fact, you would go back to SJU if you went on AEagle. But if you happen to have a connection in SJU on the way to STT, you would only have to reschedule that section of the flight!

Hi-
If you want the best in small resort hospitality, go to Village St. Jean. While it is not on the beach, you can rent a small villa (Terrace Cottage)with an amazing view for a reasonable price. Your cottage has a kitchenette, which is great when you want to have breakfast or a champagne on your deck!
Rent a jeep for your vacation and you will be able to visit the most beautiful beaches with very few people on them.

If you are looking for peace, quiet, beauty and amazing restaurants, go to St. Barths.

You can get a direct flight from St. Thomas to St. Barts on Air St. Thomas. We paid about $180 per person. It's about an hour flight maximum. St. Barts is far superior to St. Thomas overall. Been to both.

Village St. Jean is not beachfront. You just walk down the hill the hotel is perched on, cross the street, and you're at the beach (St. Jean). A few minutes' walk.

You might be able to get a flight to St. Barth from St. Thomas. If not, Winward Islands Airways flies there from St. Martin.
