i am pending for a hut @ tensing pen resort. The resort is giving me off season prices. But not the airlines. Every fare is $650.00 & up. Should i give up and just get a package from some where???? If i wait i lose the hut @ Tensing Pen. Does it get any better, or will price go up, closer to departure? may 11-14 leave jfk to negril.

$650.00 sounds reasonable to me. Most fares I've seen are $700 and up. I'd go for it! Fares can only go up in my opinion!

What city are you coming from? What avenues have you tried? A quick check on Travelocity shows May airfare from my city (Tampa) to MBJ at $400 for May.

i'm coming from new york. Going to jamaica (negril).$4oo sound o.k. but that's from tampa. May isn't peak season. Should i wait, cancel my pending @ the resort i want, and see if published fares get better? Or is jamaica just that expensive to go to.A 3 1/2 hour flight $7oo ? HELP!

Hi,

Airfares go up and down by hundreds of dollars through the year. The more flexible you are, the cheaper your fare. If you can fly on weekdays, fly when there's a special, book way in advance or at the last minute, you'll do best.

When I search for your dates at travelocity.com, i get $650. But there are fares from NYC to MoBay for $450 too - if you leave on May 10th and return the 14th, you can have it (as of this afternoon) - that'd save you enough $ to pay for the extra night at Tensing Pen!

Go to www.travelocity.com and in the middle search box, check "any dates" and fill in "nyc" and "mbj". The next screen will show you fares. Choose a fare then you'll see a calendar that shows the days that fare is available. When you click on a day, it tells you if there are any seats left. I checked Continental and there weren't for May 10 but play around and see.
<BR Liz
