Sorobon Resort
Has anyone here stayed at the Sorobon Resort in Bonaire in the last couple of years or heard of anyone who has? I have recently discovered this tiny bit of ‘paradise’, I’m thinking of booking a week here and am wondering if it as great as it looks. Also would like to hear from anyone who has stayed anywhere in Bonaire in the last couple years, thank you.

Hi. I think lack of responses is because it is a relatively small destination, and very specifically centered around its marine park. In addition, its majority is European visitors, so possibly less active on an American site like Fodors.
That does not make it a bad pick in any way though - gorgeous beaches, beautiful underwater nature and plenty to do. And smaller, but definitely not tiny.

Fair enough, and even though I received no responses I took a leap of faith and booked the Sorobon for a week anyway. Our trip is not for a long while though as I wanted a premium ocean front room and those were going fast. I will post a trip report when I get back and hopefully it is a positive one.

"But Sorobon Beach isn't just fantastic for the pros; it's also great for those who are learning to windsurf. Lac Bay has some features that are handy for beginners in windsurfing. The lagoon is not deeper than one meter, so you can stand anywhere if you happen to fall off your board unexpectedly. Moreover, if you do fall, there's no need to fear injuring your feet on sharp stones or pointed coral; the bottom of the lagoon consists of fine sand".
Many Bonaire beaches are good for snorkelling.
I went to Curacao and Aruba, because I prefer a sandy sea bottom to corals.

I may ‘try’ windsurfing, I’m not very coordinated so not sure how it will go. I do plan to snorkel a lot!! I have a catamaran trip in mind and will book it when the trip is closer. We have also been to Curaçao once and we will soon be going to Aruba for our ninth time. We have been to many Caribbean islands, both on cruises and by plane, but Aruba is our favorite for many reasons. As I said before I’m hoping that Bonaire is as good as it looks and that Sorobon is a good choice…

Sorry I missed this. I’ve been to Bonaire for two weeks the past two years. Will you have a car? Sorobon is distant to most of the restaurants, snorkeling sites etc. That being said, nothing is far away in Bonaire. It’s a small island.
Your catamaran tour will likely take you to the Andreas. We rented a villa there and had to time our snorkeling around the cats. It’s the best snorkeling on the island but you’ll have to go all the way to the shore and I’m not sure they’ll let you. The Sea Cow and Woodwind tours are highly regarded. Let me know if you have other questions. We tried out a lot of the restaurants and most of the snorkeling sites.
Make sure you use reef safe sun block and don’t touch the sea creatures, especially not the turtles.

Yes we will be renting a jeep or something equivalent, we always rent a jeep in Aruba or whatever island we are on.
I am looking for a catamaran trip that goes to Klein Bonaire, it looks beautiful! I will keep the Andreas and the two tours you mentioned in mind when I do my searches of ‘things to do’. As I said the trip is a long way off so I have plenty of time to poke around.
We are off to Aruba in five weeks and have a couple of things booked and have plans for things that don’t need booking. I love to plan vacations almost as much as the vacation itself, especially now that I’m retired. Have you been to Aruba, stayed where, did what?
Thanks for offering to answer any questions, I’m thinking I will have some as it gets closer

We have been back from Bonaire a week now and we are already talking about going back next year, for 10 days to two weeks this time. We loved the Sorobon and will be booking there again. Very laid back resort, very nice though with touches of luxury. The included breakfast every day was very plentiful, kept us going until later in the afternoon. The bar/restaurant was nice, good selection for lunches, snacks, drinks and dinner. Had a lot of fun watching the windsurfers, my husband said he will try it next year, I have decided that I will not be. All in all a great vacation, we did a kayak tour through the mangroves, did some snorkeling and a lot of flamingo viewing 🦩.

I stayed at Delfins beach resort, ocean front hotel with direct access to the sea.
I loved snorkeling 1000 steps and Salt pier.
At salt pier I even saw turtles.
Of course I did some of the stuff that would definately be in your write ups as well.
Where did you rent your car btw?
I'll probably be going again this year or next year.
