I haven't stayed there, but stayed next door at the Sands. We ate at their restaurant several times though, and thought it would be an attractive option if you don't want luxury. I think they have the best position on the beach and it seems very laid back.

A friend of our stayed there and loved it for the price. You get nice comfortable rooms and a nice queit place with nice grounds and in my opinion the best part of Grace Bay right out your door. The restaurant is great also. You are also with in walking distance to a few good and reasonable restaurants. You could save yourself on renting a car for the whole week and just rent for a couple days to tour around the island or take the Gecko shuttle.

We stayed there in May. It's a very nice small hotel. We actually got a free upgrade to a room with a seperate living area. Nice. The pool is small, but the water was warm. The Bay Bistro restaurant was nice for the included breakfast, but we thought the lunch and dinner was too expensive for what they served. It's a walk to the Salt Mills Plaza and the Ports of Call, but doable. Just walk the beach and cut through the Sands parking lot. We did not rent a car, but in hind sight should have just to get to various restaurants. Taxi rates to Salt Mills was $6, to Ports of Calls $8, Turtle Cove $12.
The beach is wonderful. The limited papalas on the beach could use some improvement. We got the use of a papala twice in 7 days because people dump their stuff on them and then disappear for the day. We did the 30 minute walk to Coral Gardens. It's a trek in the sand and hot sun.
If you want quite and decent for the price it is very doable. We had no complaints regarding the hotel itself.

We stayed there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Very quiet location. Excellent beach front.
Staff (especially front desk) were friendly and helpful.
As others have said - the pool is quite small - really just big enough to cool off in. The restaurant is good but expensive. We used to walk over to The Sands for their lunch specials.
Basically it is a nice reasonably priced, quiet, "right on the beach" place in an excellent location-beachwise. It has few facilities and so is not suitable for people who expect a resort with lots of things to do. In my opinion for people who just want a quiet. beach oriented vacation it is great.
