Sandals/St.Lucia Excursions?

We will be staying at the Sandals Grand the week between Christmas and New Year's. We've booked a couple of excursion the first and second day that we will be there. There are a couple of other excursions that we want to try but I am wondering if we should go ahead and book them ahead of time since this will be a VERY season at the resort. I don't want to get there and discover that everything is sold out, but I don't want to overbook if we decide we've changed ur minds.

When we stayed at the Sandals Grande in Nov. 05, we couldn't pre-book tours through their web-site. I just looked at their site and see now that some, but not all listed tours, have the option to book on-line. However, all the tours that were offered to us at their tour desk don't appear to be listed on their site. We didn't have any problems booking when we first arrived at the resort. Nothing was sold out.

We did the tropical jeep safari, the land and sea tour and the shopping tour. I recommend all 3. They were great. If we had more time and money we would have defininatley booked the flight to the Grenadines and the boat trip to Martinque. Also, just walk off the resort and turn left at the gate and walk down to the Pidgeon National Park. It was a $5 p/p entry fee. Hike up to the top of Pidgeon Point.

If you've already booked 2 tours. I would wait and see what their tour desk has to offer when you get there.

You can also go to www.sunlinktours.com and see what tours they offer.

KVR gives you good advice. If you have already booked 2 tours, you might want to slow down a little and decide what else you want to do after you get there. If you can afford it, definitely go to The Grenadines. We did and it was a fantastic day. That trip I did book beforehand because it used to run on a limited basis. The only thing I would not do is the Sandal's shopping excursion. You can easily take your own taxi to The Castries Market and other shopping and be on your own schedule. Have fun, St Lucia is beautiful!

How far is the Sandals Grande from Castries? About how long is the ride and how much is a cab?
Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the advice. When we spent time in Playa we ran into trouble with book excursions and spa times. Fodorites confirmed my thoughts.

sealady, it's about 20 minutes from Sandals Grande to Castries. Don't know about cab fare as we took scheduled tours instead.

The shopping tour sponsored by Sandals was $10 p/p. They took us to the craft market and the duty free mall. We had plenty of time to shop and felt more comfortable being in a group.
