Sandals Honeymoon

We're considering a Sandals resort for our honeymoon in September. The good, the bad, the ugly? St. Lucia or Antigua? We don't have much time to decide so any info is appreciated.

Stayed at the Sandals Halycon the smallest resort they have on St. Lucia had a great time and you can also go to the other two sister resorts that are larger depends on what you are looking for a small resort a large resort? Stayed at the Sandals in Antigua but was not impressed with the Sandals resort was $$ and the food and service were not very good and the room was in need of some TLC We had honeymooned in Antigua at a different resort and wanted to go back so we tried Sandals was disappointed but still had fun. Remeber if you chose St. Lucia you will have the other two resorts to go to. On Antigua I believe there is only one Sandals. You also have the Piton peaks on St. Lucia if you want to visit them. Have a great Honeymoon

We stayed at the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia before they built the rondovals. We were very disappointed. The food was just awful and the bartenders were down right rude. After paying that much money it really put a bitter taste in my mouth regarding the Sandals chain. We did not get what we paid for nor what they advertise. St. Lucia is gorgeus and if you pick that Island for an honeymoon, go with another hotel.

We've not been to Antigua yet, but Galley Bay gets the highest recomendations.

We've also stayed at the Sandals Royal Bahamain. We enjoyed that hotel and the food/service was much better, but we thought the rooms were quite over priced. We didn't care for Nassau. We have booked next year for Sandals Dunns River in Jamaica. We booked the lowest catagory room, have SSG points and a free airline ticket, so it's not costing us a mint as the other two Sandals vacations did. That Sandals tends to get the better reviews than any of their other properties, so we're going to try them again and see.

We haven't been to Antigua but fell in love with St Lucia...in fact we are getting ready to go back next week and will be staying in the same villa on the same Sandals property because we had such a wonderful time. Sandals Regency offers 'Water's Edge' Villas (2story, directly on the beach w/wonderful views and privacy, includes butler service) and we found the service and ammenities to be beyond our expectations. Some 'all inclusive' resorts are far from what they claim to be, but at Sandals you can put your wallet in the in-room safe upon arrival because it won't be needed, and anything you do need is provided almost before you think of it! I would recommend that you upgrade to a butler-level suite. We hesitated at first, thinking that we would be uncomfortable with a 'butler'. That lasted for about an hour! Want a bottle (or 2!) of champagne delivered to you on the beach at 3pm every day? As they say on the island, no pressure no problem!
What we really loved was the island itself. St Lucia is gorgeous - tropical, mountainous, verdant...the people are welcoming and the tourism industry hasn't yet swallowed it whole (ie Jamaica). If you're into scuba you will find plenty of great dive sites. Even if you decide to try another resort (have you checked out Anse Chastanet or Ladera?), you won't regret picking St Lucia as your destination. Leaving is the hard part...
