San Juan dinner/taxi questions

We are going to be staying at the Hotel Intercontinental Isla Verde and are looking to make some dinner reservations in the Old San Juan area and Condado area. Are these areas close by? Can you take a taxi? Are taxi's expensive? Is there a better way to get around then taking a taxi?

Condado and Old San Juan are about a 15-20 minute taxi ride from Isla Verde. If I remember correctly, a taxi will cost about $10-15 each way. You can also take a bus for either 25 or 50 cents (can't remember which). The bus, obviously will take longer to get to Old San Juan. If cost is a concern, you may want to take a bus down and a taxi back. Those really are your only two options. I definitely would not recommend renting a car if you're staying in the San Juan area.

I'd recommend taking the bus to Old San Juan and a taxi back. I believe you'll want the 21 bus, which goes through Condado to Old San Juan. Plenty of good restaurants in Old San Juan, but many do not take reservations. You can walk up and down Fortaleza and find great food.

hi,
I know you were asking about restaurants in Old San Juan but I just wanted to let you know that at the Wyndam hotel right beside the Intercontinental there is the absolute best italian restaurant I have ever been too. Well worth the money and you can view the menu just outside. If Gilbert is still there (head waiter) tell him Mr Munday said hello!

The restaurant is called La Piccola Fontana and it is very good. I didn't mention this but there are several very good restaurants next door to you at the Wyndham in addition to this one.

Thanks! We will have to try that.
We have one night left where we do not have a place to eat.
