san juan airport

I am flying into San Juan this Sunday to do a 7 day Southern Caribean cruise. Unfortuately, due to airline changes, I will land in the airport around noon and the ship will not start to embark until 2pm, with a 11pm departure. Does anyone know if there are any decent lunch restaurants in the airport or at the port that we (a family of seven with luggage) can kill a couple of hours at before embarking?

Thanks.

i'm not sure where your port is but if it is in old san juan, you will have a plethora of choices for lunch.

If you land at noon, by the time you collect your luggage and make it to port (either in Old San Juan or the Pan American pier) it will be getting close to 2pm.

Take a taxi to the pier -- $20.50 to OSJ piers or $16.50 to PanAm pier, up to 5 people + $1/suitcase -- http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/ge...round-by-taxi/

Check in and dump your luggage at the ship.

Then head to Old San Juan for the rest of the day. Lots to do there ...

* forts -- http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/el-morro/

* walking tour -- http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/ol...alking-tour-1/

* restaurants -- http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/restaurants/

* Earth from Above photo exhibit -- http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/earth-from-above/

That should keep you busy!

Thanks folks. We are leaving out of Pan American pier. I just wanted to know if we could check our luggage with the ship and not board until after we play tourist in Old San Juan for a few hours?

This is NOT the pier in Old San Juan. It's fairly separate from the rest of city, so it's not as if you can walk right off the ship and have OSJ at your feet. So you'll have to take a taxi over to OSJ, which should be possible. It's too far to walk from that cruise terminal.

But you should be able to check in, drop your luggage, and perhaps even drop your carry-ons and then head over to OSJ and spend the rest of the afternoon. That won't be a problem at all.

Whenever we have cruised out of San Juan we have checked into the ship and then gone into Old San Juan to enjoy the day. If check in on the ship is 2:00 they should also be serving food right on the ship!
