Sam Lords beware!

My husband and I just returned from Sam Lords and we were disgusted with the place. Hamburgers dripping blood, grapefruit juice in the morning that was replaced with freshie, no wash cloths, air conditioner didn't work, patio doors wouldn't lock. The food was horrible, the adult pool a disgrace with weeds growing all over the place. We payed a good Canadian buck for this holiday and the place was 99% British whom we found out payed half of what we did when converted. I would not recommend this resort to anyone!!!

Touchy, touchy. It sounded to me like Sami was disgusted with himself for having paid way more than what this place was worth to him/her.... the comment of what the British paid was probably just a statement to the overcharged price for Canadians. Why does this travel site and all others... have to have these Canadian/ American/ and Brit bashing statements? I really don't get it.

Sorry to all I have offended. Heaven knows I didn't mean to, my daughter-in-law is from Liverpool it's just as Kristi said it does not seem fair that we should have to pay twice as much for the same thing. The way we look at it is, you only get what you pay for so therefore it really irked us that we didn't get what we paid for. Had we paid half of what we did, so be it. However this was not the case. Again my apologies to the Brits, it was not intended.

Hi there Marjie, lucky, lucky you staying at Bougainvillea!! I have heard nothing but raves on the resort. We almost booked there ourselves but obviously didn,t (kicking our butts now) It is on the south coast, you will get some breeze there, if you were on the west coast it is dead calm and very hot. July will be HOT and possibly wet being as it is in the rainy season. You are in the Gap area I believe where there is an abundance of wonderful restaurants, not cheap by any means but good. What's this about my daughter-in-law over the water. We call it "over the pond" Ha-Ha. Keep me posted. Sami

I can sympathize with your ruined vacation, Sami. I was at Sam Lord's last year with responsibility for almost twenty business associates who "earned" this trip as a reward for extraordinary performance on the job. We were overwhelmed with the numerous mishaps: no phone, no air-conditioning, no bedsheets, garbage strewn beach, the power was out so the food was served very very slowly, the dinner/show on the beach was an embarrassment, and absolutely no help from the hotel management. The only thing my boyfriend and I were happy with was the room we managed to get into at the "Castle". A four poster bed and antique furniture, no a/c but a cross breeze and a good view. I ended up having my party check out after two days and we stayed at Tamarind Bay on the other side of the Island. What a great difference, very low key and enjoyable - and the management there was very supportive and only wished to please their guests. At least we ended our stay on a high note!
Hello all,

Would you recommend Barbados in the summer? Is it unbearably hot or is there an equivalent to Hawaiian trade winds?

For expert bashing, try the THORN TREE over at Lonely Planet..whew, all I wanted was travel tips, but what I read turned me off completely. Ant-Arab, Anti Israeli, Anti American, Anti European, you name it...
