Romantic Getaway
My husband & I are looking to celebrate our one year anniversary in late August, possibly somewhere in the Caribbean. (I know this is prime hurricane season, we used to live in South Florida, but we will take our chances!) All-inclusive may be an option and we are not necessarily looking for couples only, but do not want to be bombarded with small children either.
We are looking for something pretty laid back, but with activities like biking or snorkeling if we decide to be active.
We have never been to the Caribbean before so any & all advise will be welcomed- thanks!

Try checking out www.tripadvisor.com
They great reviews from ordinary people who have stayed in the hotels. You can search by area or hotel. I read up on the "One and Only Ocean Club" on Paradise Island and it seemed to be perfect for the quick, romantic vacation my husband and I need. Hope that helps.

I'd suggest checking www.where2stay.com for lots of ideas on islands.
Also check with a local travel agent, because they will probably have some discount deals available, that are not generally available other than with TAs.
I can give you a couple of specific ideas:
www.therockhousebahamas.com
www.romorabay.com
www.cocodimama.com
Have a wonderful time.

Get a copy of the book Caribbean Hideaways, written by Ian Keown and published by Frommer's. It rates each location on romantic ambience, food, sports/ameneties, and overall value in a variety of price ranges, though admittedly most of the recommendations are upper end places.
Where will you be flying from, what kind of budget do you have in mind overall, and how much time are you willing to spend to travel beyond the usual tourist destinations?
