Rockhouse vs. Caves
Hi,
I know this conversation has been had over and over again. Please indulge me one more time. I am planning a surprise 10 yr anniversary trip for my husband. Looking for a quick weekend getaway that is romantic and fun and something to remember. My choices, for the weekend I'm looking for in June are, a villa at the Rockhouse overlooking the water for $295...or the Two Birds cottage which is a garden view at the caves for $425.
I know the caves includes food and service is incredible, but is food and a non-water view worth more than no food and being on the water? That is the question. Thanks for the advice

Aw, I stayed at Two Birds last year! I loved it! It is a lovely lovely little cottage with an awesome outdoor shower (and it has a/c). Yes, it's garden view, but it's also tucked away beautifully (very private and romantic). The property really isn't all that large so you're always just a short walk to the water. I can never ever in a million years say enough good things about The Caves. The service is perfect. Anything you want at any time basically! I will never forget my time at The Caves....sigh.....
Unfortunately, I can't compare to Rockhouse, but maybe others can.

I can tell you that I have traveled to many nice small resorts and NOTHING compares to the caves. It is an experience and for an anniversary trip...it's perfect. It is the most romantic trip I have ever been on. You get a cave dinner one evening and a private hot tub evening. The food is amazing and the resort is beautiful. There are so many areas to sit and look at the water that you will not miss being on the water. I have not stayed at Rockhouse, but walked through and although it looks wonderful, it has more of a typical resort feel. At the caves, I felt as though I was a guest of a good friend at their private place. It is the 1 place that we insist on returning to. Simply amazing!
