Ritz Carlton San Juan or Rose Hall
Has anyone been to either or both of these hotels? Would you chose one over the other. My husband will want to play golf and dive. I enjoy going to the spas and snorkeling. We will also have a 3 year old with us. Any input would be appreciated.

I have been to both, the Rose Hall Ritz is the nicest ritz i have been to. The rooms are great, nice pool, fair beach and fantastic golf course. San Juan seems to be more of a buisness hotel and not a resort, in city area, but does have a beautiful pool and a very nice beach, although a long distance to a golf course. You pretty much have to stay at the resort in jamaica because you dont want to mosey around mobay, but taxis will take you to other restaurants out side the ritz at no charge. Hope this helps

Your going with a 3 year old? I would pass on Jamaica, too many problems there. If it was 2 adults fine, but I would worry with a toddler.

I stay at the Ritz in San Juan all the time. It just opened in the last 12 months. Great beach, located conveniently 5 minutes from the airport on Isle Verde, and is just down the road to another great hotel the El San Juan which has lots of entertainment.

Golf course is about 10 minutes away.
Richard-

I'm curious as to what you mean by too many types of problems. We are still very undecided. I have a friend who took a 2 year old to the Ritz Carlton in Jamaica and thought it was fine. If I were to go to San Juan and stay in the Isle Verde area would suggest the Ritz the El San Juan?

Paul- Did you like the Ritz in Jamaica or did you like any other resort better?

Thanks for your time everyone.

Debbie;

We've been fortunate to have visited, Caneel Bay, Little Dix Bay, Half Moon Montego Bay and as recently as last spring,Nevis Four Seasons.(took our child to all 4) We honestly feel that Ritz Carlton Rose Hall easily competes with them all. No resort has 100% of the pieces all of the time, but we like the Ritz!

Enjoy!!

Hi Debbie:
We're returning to Rose Hall on Mon- Yea!!! Stayed there in Jan with our 8 year old- She loved it, and we actually did mosey around Mobay with her- She loved the donkey carriage. Shopped there, had her hair braided- nothing but smiles and friendliness from the residents. As an aside, Ritz set up a day for us at a neighboring hotel for the water park- Great for the morning but we were glad to get back to the serenity of Ritz. The golf course is wonderful- Hub is a pro so we get to play many nice courses, but this one tops the list- especially since the caddies can read their greens!

Thanks for all the great replies. Paul we too took our daughter to Caneel Bay and had a great vacation. How does Half Moon compare with the Ritz?

Gail- My husband will be happy to hear about the course. Not a pro, but would love to be! Have a great trip!

Jim excellent idea, but we have decided this is going to be a quick (4 night)trip in mid Dec. I know, I had better move quick. I do have some reservations held.

Thanks again for all your help. I'll let you know what we decide.

Hi Debbie-

I have been to both the Ritz at Rose Hall and the Westin Rio Mar.
The Ritz was beautiful however I would not recommend it b/c of the island that it it on. Either resort is wonderful and both have the same attributes-good service, great food, nice pool/beach area and fantastic gold courses.
