Stone Terrace...the best food on the island in my opinion.

My husband and I just returned from St. John this week. What a beautiful place, you will love it. We ate at all the restaurants you mentioned. Of those, our favorite was Asolare. Outstanding food, beautiful views, good service, and very quiet and elegant. Chateau Bordaux has incredible views from atop the mountain but we felt the food was just o.k. We also enjoyed Stone Terrace and Equator. Another great place to try is Paradiso. Food is incredible although they do not have ocean views. Lots of terrific places to try--enjoy!

Thanks for your replies. From searching
the forums, it seems that Asolare is
what we are looking for. Although,
Chateau Bordeux sounds lovely, I think
the drive may be a bit of a pain.

Asolare sounds like it's closer to town.
Maybe when everyone leaves my hubby
and I will try either the Equator or
Chateau or maybe just cook a great
dinner at our villa and enjoy our last
evening in St. John.

Saw a special on the travel channel
today on St. John. Trunk Bay looks
like a great beach to get married on
after 5:00pm when the crowds die down.
Any other beaches anyone can suggest
that has easy access?

Thanks!

i would definitely avoid Equator (very unoriginal and not very good food for a high price). do not miss stone terrace...the view is not what you would have at Asolare...but the food is spectacular as is the service. one of the best meals i have EVER had and we eat at great restaurants all the time.

Trunk Bay is a great place for the ceremony - if you wait until the evening. When the crowds die down, the sun starts to set and the air cools, it is magical. Other options are Hawksnest (a bit narrow though) and Cinnamon. I still think Trunk is the best. Asolare is definitely our fav. for food, atmosphere, location, views. Congrats!

My one thought about 5 PM on any beach is whether or not the noseeums will be coming out while you're out there. They can be uncomfortable companions. Anyone else have any thoughts on the combination of timing and the local biting pests?

Yes, I would like to hear more about
the timing to have the wedding on
the beach. The no-seeums seems to
be a problem. Any suggestions of time
of day would be most helpful. We
were thinking around 5:00 or 5:30pm
but am open to time.

The reason we picked this time because
I believe Trunk Bay or the other
beaches won't be as crowded.

Please send your viewpoint. Thanks
