Restaurant Questions
I read somewhere that the restaurant L'Escale has closed. Is that true? I had read decent things about it and was going to make a reservation for one of the nights I'm there for my honeymoon.
So far we have reservations for Le Dome, Flying Fishbone, El Gaucho, Madame Janettes and Chez Mathilde. I have a couple of nights that are still open...any suggestions?

Leave a couple of nights open until you get there. Maybe some place will catch your eye. There is a very casual but nice outdoor place between the Holiday Inn and the Marriott. Moomba Beach. Once you walk by it and check it out, you might want to try it. Good for catching the sunset. It's right on the beach. There are so many nice places to eat in Aruba. You might just be walking around and see some place. The Lighthouse is also very nice for catching the sunset.

L'Escale is now a steak house but have never dined at the new restaurant.
You might want to consider Marandi located next to the Havana Beach Club just past downtown on the beach with an ocean view. You can ask for a table with the sunset view. Casual large open air palapa restaurant with beach sand floors. The ambiance is cozy and the food is international with Caribban touches. Dutch staff is friendly. You certainly don't want to rush your meal here, we had to wait awhile for the bill.
My order was Surf and Turf which was pork tenderloins and shrimp dim sum served with hoisin sauce. Absolutely delicious. Prices for main courses run about $16 to $23. The choclate mousse served with butterscotch was sinful!

At Madame Jeanette's, reserve an outdoor table. We did that b/c we heard indoor tables got really hot & stuffy. The Caribbean Lobster & Steak entrees are delicious. Crab cake appy is amazing. Mama Jamaica is the best desert ever.
At El Gaucho, the steaks are obviously their specialty. I had the 8oz filet & was stuffed, voyfriend had the 12oz & couldn't finish it (& we are steak-eaters). Try the white wine sangria as well.
You will enjoy Aruba's dining.
