Restaurant ? Barbados

We will be in Barbados for Valentine's Day. We are looking for a romantic restaurant to celebrate, but one without the big price tag. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Either The Cliff or Carambola. Both recently featured in an article on great Caribbean restaurants. Both are outside, with tables along the cliffs and spectacular views. Pricey but worth it.

Virginia, Fiona: It depends on what you consider pricey? Barbado's is a very romantic island with a large selection of outdoor dining. Baku is lovely with indoor and outdoor dining, great food (casual dressy) also in the St. Lawrence gap area there are many outdoor romantic restaurants. The restaurants have excellent food. However, they are all somewhat pricey. If you are not staying at Crane Beach be sure to go there. The sand is like velvet and pink. You can use their facilities (pool & beach for a small fee). I don't think you'll be disappointed with the food in Barbado's. Its light and very good. Good Luck & Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Viginia,

You MUST try Tides restaurand when you are there. It is fairly new, but the food was great(best I had on the island) and the view is even better. It is situated right on the beach...tides were crashing literally 10 ft. away from our table. Gorgeous. It haven't been the Cliff, so I can't compare the two. Tides is probably SLIGHTLY less expensive than the Cliff, but well worth the money. Service was excellent. Be sure to reserve an oceanside table, as they have indoor seating as well.

For the most romantic - The Cliff is a must. The really great places in Barbados are expensive, but worth it! As for table 50 -- it's the best view for 2 people. Plan on spending $120 US on dinner for 2, but you'll enjoy a memorable evening you will treasure always.

Next in line - Carambola - also fabulous view from almost any table & gourmet food.

The Tides has fabulous food & a wonderful chef, but the view doesn't begin to compare.

More reasonably priced on the South coast might be Pieces or Bellinis, but the food will not compare with the others I've mentioned.

We've been there 15 times and have learned that you have to save up and splurge at times - and this might be one of those times.

For Valentine's Day you will need to reserve way in advance, so a phone call to the restaurant before you leave on your trip would be worthwhile not to be disappointed.
