This has been debating forever. We each have our own likes and dislikes. Just go and decide for yourself. Two paople can experience the same exact thing and one will love it and the other will complain about it forever.
We have always enjoyed our stays at the Atlantis. The grounds are beautiful, the aquarium and The Dig are great. Yes, the food is expensive...it's a resort for goodness sake. That's how resorts are. Yes, it's BIG and a lot of people will be there. You don't have to eat at the restaurants right at Atlantis. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. We have always been able to have a relaxing, wondrful vacation at the Atlantis.

I am also thinking about the Atlantis and heard that the Harbourside Condos is a very nice alternative to stay in and not as expensive as the Atlantis Rooms and you can use all of the facilities at the Atlantis. Schmerl do you know about those.

Harbourside is next to Atlantis, but it is a hike over. Especially if you are taking children. I think they may have a shuttle to take you to Atlantis, but I have no idea how often it runs. I have read good and bad about Harbourside. You can also stay across the street at the Comfort Suites and have full access to Atlantis' facilities.

Been there twice. once to vist on a cruise and once staying at the comfort suites across the street. I would visit again. Very nice property, but very expensive. Stay at the suites and enjoy all the Atlantis pools etc. Very nice beach. Restuarants too expensive, so go off site. Many good ones, poop deck etc. just my 2 cents. ron

My sisters and I stayed at the Comfort Suites and did the Atlantis thing summer before last. I hated the Comfort Suites and felt like I was sneaking onto the Atlantis property. Atlantis was beautiful but very fake-feeling; I don't know how to describe it. It didn't feel like a resort, the whole place felt like a casino. The beach was nice and the people were friendly. Loved the big slide; the pools were all crowded. Shopping down by the Straw Market was fun and all the restaurants were good. Atlantis restaurants were expensive, but worth it, I thought. More reasonable places were well within walking distance and were very good as well. I will not go back to Paradise Island. I did feel like I wasted my money on that trip - we could have had a more "real" experience for the same money on one of the out islands.
