Rain in September
Hi all,

My husband and I are thinking of going away to Grand Cayman in early September for a week. However, I remember reading that Sept. averages 9 rainy days a month. Has anyone been to Grand Cayman in Sept? Are we talking short showers or all day pours?

Thanks!

We went to the Caribbean in August for about 25 years before we found out that this was in the hurricane season which peaked in September. I guess that we were very lucky. However we generally travel loose in the off season. In that case it would be always easy to get out of the path of a hurricane. Only once did we leave BVI on a Charter flight to another island as we did not like the turn in the weather. It is true that that you have less of a risk in the ABC islands but at that time of the year the wind does tend to blow which makes water visibility poor. True, if you are out on the limb for a lot of cash you should have insurance. If a weather is coming your way, get out the first opportunity. It is no fun to stick it out. In general I think the Caymans have had good fortune in the recent past. At this time of the year short showers would be the worse case until real weather is moving through. The weather you are concerned about starts off of the coast of Africa and moves very slowly and its path is narrow and often uncertain.

Hi,
I was in Grand Cayman the last week in September 2000. It was terrible!! Rained every day, and the mosquitoes were awful. I go to the island every 6 months, usually in April and October. Since the weather in October was sometimes bad because of the hurricane season, we thought we would try September! Never again!! It could be great this September, but you never know!!
Sandy
