Quick help on research please
Friends recently returned from St Johns/Cinnanon Bay. Am thinking of going but have done no research yet. What is (about) the price of airfare from (say) Toronto? Is it OK in January. If we go we would camp. Im not really lazy, this is just the first step in my research, I will also look at books etc. Thanks for your help.

Scott

USVI in January will be fine - that's exactly when you want to get out of Canada [or Iowa for that matter
]. I have seen an article I think in Caribbean Travel and Life and if I go home and find it, I will email you with exact issue and volume. Also check out the Island Connoisseur Supersite [www.islandconnoisseur.com].

Be sure to check out Maho Bay as well. I found the tents on platforms much better and really enjoyed Maho. January is a great time in the Virgin Islands ... any time is really! You are welcome to e-mail me for info on St. John and St. Thomas but I cannot help with airfares. Know AA and Contential both have some direct flights to STT and you ferry to St. John. You may also choose to change in San Juan but avoid Miami if you can! Better research quickly ... airline space books quickly!

I prefer direct flights ... but the times stink! So I go thru San Juan. First, the flight is shorter and the connection times work better for me ... less layover time. Miami is very overwhelming, very crowded and there can be long trekks for the connection ... elevators, escalators, lots of walking! San Juan has multiple flights to STT and if you "miss" the connection (given the delays and problems with airlines), I find it easier to rebook from there. We book thru with the same carrier ... AA ... and whenever there has been a problem (and it is not uncommon) there is no horrific hassle with arrangements if you do have to stay overnite! (there is a 7 am flight out the next am from San Juan to STT so that whole day is not shot if you have a problem!)If you change carriers, you are on your own!
