questioning jamaica-need advise!

am I being picky? Or is $700 from new york to negril for may11th to the 14th to expensive. I'm thinking about giving up the resort i'm pending at because the flight is a lot.Should i go w/a package? If so, who to call where to look and where to stay? Isn't it off peak season? It's my first time

Go with a package and you may be able to get a charter which is a lot cheaper.

Try Travelocity.com or Expedia.com for starters. They offer package deals you might be able to take advantage of.

Nicholas-airfare to the Caribbean is inching higher and higher...even in the 'off-season'. Assume the $700 tab was for 1 person. Which airline? Have heard good things about Air Jamaica, if you haven't already looked into them. There are lots of packages out there-look into Apple Vacations, however those must be booked thru a travel agent, and cannot be booked independently. There are pros and cons of taking a charter flight vs scheduled air service, only one being if you need to leave your destination earlier than planned, you're pretty much out of luck with a charter.

$700 for May (more or less off-season) is definitely too much. Agree with above advice re packages. Apple must be booked through a travel agent; you can book Air Jamaica pkgs directly or through an agent. Empress and Liberty travel have lots of packages too. <BR>

Got a great price from Sunburst Holidays (1-800-sunburst or http://www.sunburstholidays.com), with air from JFK (NY) to a small A/I in Negril $850 per person! (No I dont work for Sunburst, just spreading the good word around
