Question - Selecting Room Type @ Caneel

Hi-
My wife and I are headed to Caneel this fall for the first time. (already counting down the hours!!!) I booked a 'premium beachfront' through Rosewood. I wanted to confirm a room on Scott beach. (Understand there are also these room types on Paradise and a few on Caneel beach). However, Rosewood said they would make the request but could not guarantee. Can I call Caneel directly to guarantee or will they tell me the same thing? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

While I have been a frequent Caneel guest, I have never been there in January, high season and a time of full bookings. However, on my last stay this past November, the resort was full, and both my sister's and my requests were honored. Our reservations were made by phone direct with the resort. At that time, we were told that they could not guarantee it, but would include our requests with the reservations.

My personal feeling is that it is good to 'touch base' with Caneel's reservationists. and explain how much you hope to have a room on Scott's Beach. You probably will receive the same answer, but they do try very hard to please.

Have fun counting and dreaming. You will have a wonderful trip. What a great time to go!

I just read this post! I wanted to add it has been my experience to deal with Caneel directly, call the reservation office at the hotel rather than Rosewood. They are excellent. Glad it worked out for you!

I have been to Caneel in early December a few times, than went in High season twice, in mid January. The hotel was busy at all times, I like January as Turtle Bay is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Its a wonderful spot for breakfast, not busy like the pavillion on Caneel Beach. I also enjoy having a picnic hamper breakfast delivered to the room. I did stop going to the hotel, because January is high season, you pay top dollar, but it is not the busiest season, so Rosewood had a large group that made it not the best for our trip. The hospitality suite, etc. was set up on the busy terrace not far from the beach bar terrace. Quite a few days we could not get a table at the beach bar, so we used this area to dine. Big mistake, our seating area
was shared by daytrippers, waiting for the Caneel ferry! They should have taken a hospitality room on Caneel beach! The hotel should not have been so accomodating!
Also all the restaurants in Cruz Bay were full! We had reservations at Ascolare, the bar area was 3 deep with the corporate group, name tags and all!
The Turtle Bay House was closed one evening for the group too! When I go again I am going to inquire if a group will be there!

I sitll enjoy Caneel, love the beaches, adore the snorkeling, and I will go again! It is a lovely place.

Hi There, I have a Question???????
I just booked at Caneel for October and went directly through them. They guarentteed me a beachfront on Scott Beach, but now I am confused to hear that you have a "premium" on Scott Beach. Are both the beach fronts and premium on Scotts? They told me the difference was the type of room and that premium is single story. I want to be sure that I am getting Scott Beach as they told me.
Thanks for the help.

It is my understanding that all rooms on Scott are 'premium'. However, there are also a few premium rooms on Paradise and Caneel beach - all single story.

Scott Beach rooms are premium, one story, and directly on the beach! No other "beachfront" on Scotts except these. It sounds like you are on Scotts, but I would call the hotel to reconfirm just to be sure.
