Puerto Rico

Need some help, please, with accomodations for Puerto Rico in February. Spent a week last year there and surprised to find just how expensive this charming little island can be.
Will be staying exclusively in the San Juan area. Would like a nice smaller hotel/pension that might have at least a stove/microwave and perhaps a small frig. Last year we thought eating out quite expensive and going to the grocery store not particularly inexpensive. Tour/guide books some help but no substitute for the respected opinions of fellow travelers.

Have you considered renting an apartment?

You might want to check out VRBO - http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals...co/puerto-rico

I had an amazing Spanish immersion experience in Puerto Rico. I also was able to visit beautiful places such as El Yunque Rainforest, Culebra Island and Fajardo Bioluminescent Bay and take surfing classes. I did everything with gospanishpr.com, they also have different accommodation options like home stay and private apartment rent.

A few options:

http://www.acaciaseasideinn.com (Don't know about the microwave or fridge at this one, but we loved it!)

http://www.thegalleryinn.com

Budget: http://www.coquidelmar.com/

I have better recommendations outside of OSJ, but we've enjoyed each of these at one time or another. Let us know what you select!
