Priceline Bid
I want to make a priceline bid for the El Conquistador or the Westin Rio Del Mar. The rate for both in February is $500 for a non-ocean view room. Has anyone does this?
Is my understanding correct that these are the only luxury Resorts in Rio Grande-Humacao. I don't want to end up with something else. Thanks.

Have you checked biddingfortravel? It appears someone recently got the El Conquistador for $100 per night for February (they bid in December 05).

Although BFT reports only these two as resorts, there is always a chance that another one may be added to the same zone.

Joan is correct.
There's a tip I can offer you. Go to Priceline and click on the VACATION PACKAGE, put in your travel dates and see what Priceline displays for Resorts in the area you want (Priceline will display the hotels when you're looking at PACKAGES BEFORE you buy them). If you see another resort that's not the 2 you want, that means they've added another resort to their list.
This has worked for me in the past.

I did just that through priceline for a night on 1/15 and got the Westin Rio Mar for $125. You might want to read my trip report. We had a few glitches at the Westin, and I would definitely recommend going off the resort for food. I was happy enough with the resort given what we paid, but if I had paid full price I would have been disappointed.
Follow caribraveler's tip and check what priceline shows for resorts before you place the bid. When I did this they only showed the Westin and El Conquistador, but be sure that's the case for your dates of travel.
Have fun.

I got the Westin Rio Mar for 3 nights on Hotwire for $128 a night for the end of March. Haven't ever checked out biddingfortravel, however, I did use betterbidding.com to determine which property I was getting. Can't wait to go! I love the info in these forums.
