Planning next trip - need help
I am planning my next trip for sometime in 2003. I keep thinking of a beautiful beach on an island that's not crowded with tourists and really laid back with good food and someone suggested T&C. I really do not know very much about these islands, but they sound ideal. (1) how do I get there from Pacific NW. (2) I am a single woman in 50's going solo, so nightlife is not big on my list - which island would you suggest (3) I am a budget traveller, so is there anything under $75 night? (4) what time of year is the best - don't want to worry about hurricanes. I know these are broad questions, but any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Turks and Caicos does indeed have beautiful beaches - amoung the best in the cAribbean. And ture, it is very laid back. Other then enjoying the beautifully clear blue water, there is literally nothing to see or do off the resorts so do not know if that would be a factor. Turks also is not cheap but there are some great condo type places to look into. try www.wheretostay.com

I would guess that the best way to get to Turks is flying into Atlanta or Miami first.

Thanks Penney. Can you fly direct from Atlanta/Miami to T&C? Can you get around without a car? Is there public transportation? Do you think maybe one of the other islands would be better. I don't need shops, or a lot of activities, actually planting myself on a nice beach with some books sounds pretty good right now. Just got back from Italy and loved it, but it can be tiring.

Comfort Suites is one of the lower priced hotels on Provo. According to their website (www.comfortsuitestci.com) you can get a room for about $100-135 per night depending on the time of year. It is across the street from the beach, about a 3 minute walk, and contential breakfast is included.

If you compare prices, staying in a condo on the beach would cost at least 40% more. But then you would have the option of cooking.

If you want an all-inclusive, Allegro and Club Med would be cheaper than Beaches.

I saw a post that one of the airlines flies daily from Miami to Provo, but I don't remember which one.

Provo is realy nice and a good choice. Comfort Inn and suites a good recommendation . It is in Ports of Call shopping area and there are about 5 restaurants within walking distance. You might also check out Caribbean Paradise Inn which is in the same area. Sibonne is very nice and on the beach. Best time to go would be after 15 April when the rates go to off season. American has three flights daily from Miami to Provo and Delta starts flying from Atlanta in Nov on Saturdays. Check out www.wherewhenhow.com the on Line Magazine of the Turks and Caicos and www.adamsnames.tc--Click on Turks and caicos and links for links to all sorts of web sites and info. Recommend a rental car. Not much within walking distance of anything. Hertz, Avis and Budget are at the airport--Provo rent a car is also very good and within walking distance of Comfort Inn
