Passports for Dominican Republic?
Liberty Travel has an alert on their website stating that D.R. immigration has been requiring some U.S. citizens to obtain a passport before allowing them to return to the U.S. Are there any T.A's that can clafify?

Maybe clarify wasn't the right word mrw, I'm just wondering how travel agents are advising their clients. Mine never mentioned anything about it. I happen to have a passport, so it's not an issue for me and my family but it may become one for the 20+ people I'm vacationing with next month who are using birth certificates.

www.state.gov lists entry requirements for US citizens for virtually all countries. They say a passport is "Strongly recommended" but birth certificate is OK. HOWEVER - this is rapidly changing for most destinations, with passport being required document. Liberty Travel might be in a position to know these things in advance since that is what they do.
The problem with birth certificate, in addition to above, is that many people do not have the "right kind" - original, raised seal, etc. Many people just have old copies.

Maybe you mean amplify. Anyway, I can't imagine leaving the country without my passport.
