October Trip Insurance

I always get trip insurance because of the likelihood of someone getting sick or having the trip interrupted for one reason or other. Be sure to check because I don't think it covers cancellation due to a hurricane. We get ours from CSA and I'm pretty sure it doesn't cover 'canes.

When we went on the Vacation From Hell (Margarita) we had serious problems with connections and getting stranded and ended up spending almost an extra $1000. Trip interruption covered this and we were able to get our money back. It's also good for rental cars and medical evacuation.

Nicole,
When buyimg trip insurance there sometimes are 'conditions'. For example, we just purchased TravelSafe. Our check for the insurance had to be received within 7 days of booking our trip. Cost was $69 p/p. Personally, we would not travel without insurance.
Wonder if there are companies who sell insurance without a booking deadline?
Perhaps Fodorites know the answer.

I go thru AAA and they deal with CSA. You don't have to get the insurance when you book the trip, but if you don't it won't cover a pre-existing condition if you have to cancel for someones illness.

You can purchase it when you make the final payment on your trip, for the interruption , lost bags etc. All the terms and conditions except the pre-existing ones.
