I have been wondering how Marion's trip is going also.I know that she will be gone the whole month of December.

Maybe she will check in sometime and give us an update.

Hi! I'm Marion's daughter, Lauren, and I am trying to reach her by phone but the number I have for her at Coquina only gives me a busy signal. Just wondering if someone could email it to me privately. Thanks a million!

Lauren and Fodorites: Marion so much
likes the 'family-owned, old-Jamaica
feel' of Coquina, according to manager
this morning, she's planning a return already this coming February. She is
equally loved by staff.

Jamaica sounds like a good place for you; I'd recommend Negril's beach or cliffs. (The big resorts are at one end of the beach, which is something like 7 miles. You'll forget they are even there!) Just go in realizing you're going to encounter poverty and you won't be disappointed. We stayed at Rondell village and found it to be a great deal!

However....you might enjoy St. Croix. There's a lot of history there and it's less touristy than the other islands.

Thanks for the update Tiv, I hope Lauren has managed to contact Marion.

It's wonderful to hear that she is enjoying herself - I bet they want to adopt her

Hello to all my thoughtful friends, and my apologies to Julies for *highjacking* her thread. I returned to cold and damp New England after midnight last night, and given my experiences at security checkpoints at various airports, I think we should all eliminate *highjacking* from our vocabulary. So, Julies I will add my encouragement to research the South Coast of Jamaica and to trust Tiverton to give you the best guidance !

I thought about you all so often, but my computer is desktop so no access.

When my daughter finally reached me (although I had given her contact numbers) and told me how she *found* me, I had one of those horrific, maternal moments when I thought that she might be savvy enough to read my history of posts here and simply prayed that I had not shared anything I shouldn't have ;-).....mothers of the world will relate, I know

So...there is much to tell and a little humor in some of my experiences, and I promise to share soon.

Sasha is right...I LOVED it !!

But I won't keep you in suspense any longer about my trip to the Pelican Bar I made the trip to Black River on Christmas Eve day. The sea had a little "chop" and I have a few bruises to show for it, but it was wonderful !

On the return from the river we pulled up to the bar, only to find the owner in his canoe, with a dead engine. My boat captain pulled alongside and sparkplugs and advice were traded. I was touched to see the care and concern between the men. It is a different memory than climbing the stairs for a drink....but to me it was a unique experience Maybe it was just God's way of saying, stay in da boat woman

Thanks to all for your thoughts...I did miss you

Marion,

So glad that you're back. We've all missed you and your witty posts so much since you've been gone.

I'm sure you're sad to have left Jamaica, but we all look forward to your trip report(s)!

Welcome back, indeed! So glad you had a wonderful time in TB. I remember the return trip from the Black River, Pelican Bar. I, unfortunately, have ample padding so I didn't get the bruises, but my poor husband has a skinny little bum and was a bit sore after our return, too.
