Negril topless?

There are several places in Negril, most notably at Hedonism and Grand Lido, which both have nude beaches. But Jamaicans are particularly conservative, so only go topless or nude where signs indicate that it's permitted. I'm not up on the public nude beaches in the area, but I think there is at least one.

It's been years since I've been to Negril, but when I was there there were TONS of topless women. Funny story-there were so many topless ladies that my Dad and brother's neck's were crained. My Mom decided to fix them and got some fisherman to take them out fishing all day! One of many family travel memories.

I'm a little late for this, but I'll go ahead and put my 2 cents in. We stayed at Idle Awhile and there were several Europeans staying at the nextdoor hotel Charela Inn. Many of the women went topless daily and it didn't seem to cause a stir.

laustic,
We stayed at IA in 2005 and I was happy to go topless (on the grounds of the hotel) not in the main beach.
I'm a Brit so topless doesn't scare me but I'm sensitive to other peoples feelings, as it was we met with a Canadian couple and another couple from SC and all 6 of us would sit in a group - all topless
There were no children staying at the resort but we too saw lots of topless women when we walked along the beach, some obviously with their children.
Jed, that's the difference I don't need to 'view' - I have my own pair, but I would rather look at a topless woman rather than some of the men who don't offend, but REALLY need to cover up

We stayed at the RIU Tropcial Bay, which is considered a "family friendly" hotel and there were topless women at the pool, beach and in the ocean. We also saw a few men wearing thong speedos.
The Couples reports have a seperate area for au natraul sun bathing, and topless is acceptable at the main beach area. Of all the places we've been to, this is the most flesh we've ever seen.

We've been going to Jamaica since 1981, most recently this past December. Topless bathing/sunning seems to be most common among the European tourists, not so much among the American ones. Jamaicans are, as the Fodor's editor pointed out, pretty conservative about this stuff, so you don't really see so much of it on the beach, except for designated "nudist" areas, like the one next to COCO LA PALM. Also, since many of the beach resorts cater to families in season, I think it's not encouraged, but certainly no one is going to stop you if you do it, either.

Why do I get the feeling that you are male?
Try sitting around in any warm climate and you will understand the freedom that topless bathing gives you - but if you are male then you know that already. Try going on vacation and wearing a t-shirt the whole time, perhaps after spending time in 80+ heat, you might understand why.
Men see breasts as sexual, you might like them but they weren't developed for your fun, they are there to feed your children. Been there done that.
I'd love to see a picture of you with bikini tan (both parts of the bikini of course) but I bet your workmates would die laughing seeing your bikini lines that we woman have to bear.

I get that they're attractive
I just don't get why it's been made to be this "dirty" thing to expose the breasts - whether sun bathing or nursing a child. Neither of those, particularly the latter, are dirty activities!
