My husband and I are planning a 5 day trip to Negril... and need any help/advice possible.

1. If we fly into Kingston, what is the best and quickest way to get to Negril? How much $$ are we looking at?

2. What other cities can we fly into, and what are our options to get to Negril from there?

3. Is it possible to get an all inclusive package for 5 days in Negril, at a nice hotel?

You do not want to fly into Kingston. Fly into Montego Bay - and then you can either take a puddle jumper to Negril or go by bus. There are plenty of AI packages in Negril but you will get better deals and much better food without the AI. Food is great and cheap in Negril and bars are plentiful and cheap too. Part of the fun of Negril is strolling on the beautiful beach checking out all the bars and restaurants. No great planning is involved. Is it important for you to be at adults only place?

What cartera said. Kingston makes sense for Port Antonio or that area but Negril is WAAAYYYYY on the other side of the island, just over an hour from Montego Bay...your plane may stop in MoBay on the way to Kingston, in fact.

Driving would be something like 6 hours, if you have to fly into Kingston for some reason.

If you come into MoBay you can take a bus, taxi, or fly. TOurist bus = $20pp, taxi about $50-60 for the car, flying is $80 or so pp (I could be off there, never done it). There's also public transport which is under $5 but long, crowded and involves taxiing to the bus park then switching vans halfway.

There are big AI resorts in Negril, there are smaller hotels that offer AI pakcakges and there are numerous little cottages, resorts and smaller hotels that don't even have restaurants because Negril is filled with restaurants to suit every budget.

Look for packages at RIU and COCO LA PALM if you're on a tight travel budget/the TNT/GWV things. If you'd like more style, Tensing Pen, Citronelle on the West End. The road's new from MoBay to Negril so no need to fly/get a JUTA taximan from the desk just before you exit customs to taximan area outside (you can higgle/bargain for a cheaper rate if you're savvy/up to it...but JUTA or a pre-arranged transfer private driver are both easier,
safer and competitively-priced.

I stayed at Coco Lapalm last year and highly recommend it. I got a great rate for airfare and 7 nights at White Sands from a travel agent, but I am hoping to go a little more off the beaten path this year.

I spent 6 days in Jamaica last May - stayed at the Rockhouse - it was gorgeous! All villas with rock-walled open roof showers. Water is unbelievable. Very reasonably priced. Has a fantastic restaurant on-grounds and drinks are not expensive either. But definitely, no matter where you stay, fly into Montego Bay!! Kingston is WAY out of your way.
