Jamaica Vacation Negril Advice
My boyfriend and I (both in our late 20's) are looking for something laid back and scenic. We don't want to revisit spring break (i.e. Montego Bay) but are on a budget. Negril sounds wonderful but are there any hotels in Negril or in other cities that you can recommend for those looking to not spend a fortune? As well what's the best way to get to Negril as most flights arrive in Montego Bay or Kingston. Thx!

Flights do arrive in MoBay and people either take the bus ride to NEgril or fly into Negril from MoBay on smaller carriers. Cost is low.
Couples is a laid back resort and if you search the web, you should be able to find a good deal. Also, look on www.negril.com There are tons of smaller places to stay that are more affordable and this site is a great source on the area. Also a very imformative message board there as well.
As far as not revisiting spring break, Negril has become a hot spring break area so really depends onwhen yougo. It is however the best part of the island.

I love Negril and it can be laid back and scenic but it can also be hectic...you might like the cliffs of Negril better than the beach, they are quieter. Also if you do go during spring break, you can avoid a lot of that, in the right hotel.
You might also look at Treasure beach or Bluefields where places to stay are less than Negril and it should be very quiet and scenic.

If you want laid back and scenic, go to Treasure Beach. Negril has really become more "spring breakish" over the years - very busy and expensive. Treasure Beach is very scenic and beautiful. You can walk from cove to cove, and often have the beach to yourself. The people there are very friendly and sincere, and don't try to sell you stuff all the time (like in Negril). I recently returned from a week at Ital Rest, and it was probably the best vacation of my life - check it out.

We are going back to Negril for the third time in 03. Wish you would have posted what you wanted to spend.
Anyway we think the Samsara Hotel is about the best deal but is still around 85/night.
We have put together a small home grown brochure on Negril with info we would have appreciated for our first vist.
If you would like a copy just e-mail us
